Jamel Armand is a Dutch artist and painter known for his layered visual language — a blend of folk-inspired figures, ritualistic gestures, and global symbolism. His work bridges ancestral memory with contemporary energy, creating compositions that feel both ancient and alive.

His practice began instinctively, as a way of making sense of things he couldn’t easily express in words. Over time, texture, layering, and simplified forms became his vocabulary. Many of his pieces draw from his Indonesian heritage and a deep connection to the tribes and civilisations he feels tied to across time.
